Advanced Acting: Actor's Intensive
This three-week program will work with advanced students to develop their stage craft.  Students will work on scenes, monologues, and movement pieces, discover technical theater, and discuss theatre as art and its place in society.  This program is not designed for beginning students.  Participants are required to wear black pants/shorts, shirt and shoes that allow for easy movement each day.  Performers with long hair will be required to pull it away from their face.  Participants must come July 14 ready to present a one-minute monologue of their choice.

A Word About Monologue Selection: Monologues MUST be from a known stage play or musical. Poetry, Sonnets, Self-written Pieces, Disney, Television and Film are not acceptable sources. Students MUST memorize their monologue and bring 2 typed copies with them to class. We also strongly encourage students to read the play/musical from which their monologue comes. As most theater contains adult situations and language, which may be inappropriate for kids, we STRONGLY ADVISE parents to review material with their child. Any piece presented in class must be clean (please edit for language and content).

The following playwrights are recommended. Again, much of theater contains adult situations and content. PARENTS, REVIEW MATERIAL WITH YOUR CHILD.

Arthur Miller, Neil Simon, Tennessee Williams, Edward Albee, Eugene O'Neill, Thornton Wilder, Oscar Wild, George Bernard Shaw, Noel Coward, Tom Stoppard, Anton Chekhov, Henrik Ibsen, Chrisopher Marlowe, William Shakespeare
